The Design Manager leads all design management activities for the data centre construction programme, coordinating the design team, managing the design programme, and ensuring that design information is issued accurately and on time to support site construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design management across all disciplines — CSA, MEPF, ELV, and specialist systems

  • Develop and maintain the design programme, aligning with the construction programme and procurement milestones

  • Manage the design team and consultant interfaces, facilitating coordination and issue resolution

  • Oversee the RFI and design query management process, ensuring timely responses to site

  • Review and manage design submittals, shop drawings, and technical submittals through the CDE

  • Manage design risk, tracking open design issues and driving resolution

  • Coordinate with the client technical team on design approvals, derogations, and changes

  • Oversee BIM coordination activities, ensuring clash-free IFC model delivery to site

  • Manage value engineering reviews and design change impact assessments

  • Prepare design management reports and contribute to project progress reporting

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong design management experience across multi-discipline construction projects

  • Deep understanding of design workflows, drawing issue processes, and submittal management

  • Proficiency with CDE platforms (Autodesk Construction Cloud, Asite, Aconex) for design management

  • Knowledge of BIM execution planning, ISO 19650, and model coordination workflows

  • Experience managing consultant interfaces and design team performance

  • Sound understanding of data centre design standards and technical requirements

  • Strong RFI management experience and ability to track and expedite design responses

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at senior project level
