H&S Manager

The H&S Manager is responsible for leading and managing all health, safety, and welfare activities across the construction site, establishing a zero-harm culture and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, client standards, and project HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the project Health & Safety Management Plan and site-specific procedures

  • Lead site HSE inductions, toolbox talks, safety stand-downs, and awareness campaigns for all site personnel and visitors

  • Review and approve all subcontractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) prior to work commencement

  • Manage and administer the permit-to-work system for high-risk activities including hot works, confined spaces, working at height, and electrical isolation

  • Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, and walkabouts, issuing observations and enforcing corrective actions

  • Investigate all incidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences, producing formal investigation reports and driving preventive measures

  • Maintain HSE statistics, KPI dashboards, and incident registers for internal and client reporting

  • Liaise with local health and safety authorities, client HSE teams, and third-party auditors

  • Lead emergency response planning, fire evacuation drills, and first aid arrangements on site

  • Manage the H&S team (HSE Engineers/Officers) including task allocation, performance review, and professional development
