HSE Engineer

The HSE Engineer supports the implementation of the HSE Management System on the data centre construction site, conducting site inspections, reviewing RAMS, assisting with incident investigations, and promoting a positive safety culture across the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily site safety walks and inspections, recording observations and issuing safety notices

  • Review and comment on subcontractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)

  • Assist in the management and administration of the permit-to-work system

  • Support the delivery of site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety awareness sessions

  • Assist in incident and near-miss investigations, contributing to reports and corrective action plans

  • Maintain HSE documentation, registers, and statistical data for monthly reporting

  • Monitor compliance with site HSE rules and escalate violations to the HSE Lead

  • Support the preparation of emergency response plans and first aid arrangements

  • Coordinate with subcontractor HSE representatives on safety matters

  • Contribute to HSE audits and support implementation of corrective actions

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Solid construction site HSE experience with NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent

  • Practical knowledge of high-risk activity management including WAH, confined spaces, and hot works

  • Experience reviewing RAMS and providing technically sound safety comments

  • Permit-to-work system administration experience

  • Good knowledge of construction site HSE legislation and standards

  • Experience contributing to incident investigations and root cause analysis

  • Strong observational skills and ability to communicate HSE requirements effectively to workers

  • Good record-keeping, reporting, and IT skills for HSE documentation management
