HSE Lead
The HSE Lead is responsible for establishing, implementing, and managing the Health, Safety, and Environment Management System across the data centre construction programme, ensuring a zero-harm culture and compliance with all applicable legislation, standards, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain the project HSE Management Plan, procedures, and safe systems of work
Lead site HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and HSE awareness programmes for all site personnel
Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, and risk assessment reviews
Investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe acts, and drive corrective and preventive actions
Review and approve subcontractor RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statements) for all high-risk activities
Manage the permit-to-work system for confined spaces, hot works, electrical isolation, and working at height
Ensure compliance with local health and safety legislation and client HSE standards
Maintain HSE statistics, KPI dashboards, and incident registers
Interface with the client HSE team, regulatory authorities, and third-party HSE auditors
Lead emergency response planning, fire drills, and emergency preparedness activities
Required Skills & Competencies
Comprehensive knowledge of construction HSE management and applicable legislation
NEBOSH Diploma or Certificate (or national equivalent) — required
Experience implementing and auditing ISO 45001:2018 OHSMS on construction projects
Strong knowledge of high-risk activities including working at height, confined spaces, and electrical safety
Permit-to-work system management and implementation experience
Experience conducting formal incident investigations and root cause analysis (RCA)
Familiarity with client HSE management systems specific to data centre or industrial environments
Strong leadership and communication skills to drive a positive HSE culture across the workforce
