The Project Manager is a senior site leadership role responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the data centre construction programme, managing all aspects of scope, schedule, cost, quality, and stakeholder engagement on behalf of Desapex and the client. Operating as the primary delivery authority on an international site in Finland, the Project Manager leads a multi-discipline consultant and contractor team, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards required of a hyperscale mission-critical facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall delivery of the data centre construction programme from mobilisation through to practical completion and handover

  • Manage all site-based consultant disciplines including CSA, MEPF, planning, commercial, design, BIM, HSE, and quality teams

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the client on all delivery, commercial, and technical matters

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the master programme, ensuring alignment with client milestones and phased handover requirements

  • Manage the project budget, cost reporting, change control, and financial forecasting in coordination with the Project Controller and QS team

  • Establish and enforce the project management framework including governance structures, reporting cadences, and escalation protocols

  • Lead risk management activities, maintaining the risk register and driving mitigation and contingency planning

  • Chair project progress meetings, design reviews, and subcontractor coordination meetings

  • Manage interfaces with the client, general contractor, design consultants, specialist subcontractors, and local authorities

  • Oversee procurement strategy and subcontract award decisions in coordination with the commercial team

  • Ensure all health, safety, and environmental obligations are met across the project site in compliance with local legislation and client standards

  • Drive BIM and digital delivery strategy, ensuring the programme meets ISO 19650 and client digital requirements

  • Manage project closeout including commissioning oversight, defect resolution, O&M documentation, and final handover

  • Report programme status, risks, and key decisions to Desapex senior leadership and the client executive team

  • Mentor and develop the site-based project team, fostering a high-performance delivery culture

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale, complex construction projects from inception to handover as Project Manager or Senior PM

  • Deep understanding of multi-discipline construction delivery including CSA, MEPF, commissioning, and specialist systems

  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge across FIDIC Silver/Yellow, NEC4, or bespoke EPC/EPCM contract forms

  • Expertise in project controls including programme management, EVM, cost forecasting, and change management

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience interfacing at client director and executive level

  • Proficiency with project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project) and CDE platforms (Autodesk Construction Cloud, Asite)

  • Knowledge of BIM/ISO 19650 digital delivery requirements and their application on construction programmes

  • Strong HSE leadership with experience enforcing zero-harm cultures on large construction sites

  • Experience with data centre or mission-critical facility commissioning oversight and phased handover strategies

  • PMI PMP, APM PMQ/PPQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent recognised project management qualification preferred
