The Scope of Works included design support for the Electrical, LSS and Instrumentation and Control Systems for the contracting team. Which included Conduits, Cable Trays, Panel and support modeling, preparing shop drawings and creating as built models for service installed areas, coordination with other stakeholders for clash coordination etc.
1. Circuit markups in PDF format.
2. Comments in XML format.
3. As built content was shared in video and 360⁰ images format.
1. AutoCAD MEP 2021
2. Autodesk Revit 2021
3. Navisworks Manage 2021
4. Autodesk BIM360 Glue
5. Bluebeam Revu
6. BIMtrack
7. Cupixworks
From the initial route planning to the close out stage of the files, it took approximately 3 years for 5 buildings with a total area of around 2.5Million Sq. Ft.
1. Discrepancy in the existing models : The existing models received were outdated and were not accurate. This led to clashes and rework during the approval process. This was resolved with the help of 360⁰ images in Cupixworks and laser scanning of the site to verify the site conditions.
2. Real challenge of working with teams that are not aware/capable of using BIM : Often the inputs received from the Field foremans were in the form of hand sketches or the markups on PDFs for the as-built content. Understanding these hand sketches would take a considerable amount of time. So, instead we requested for site capture in the form of 360⁰ images and the videos, and viewpoints wherever the site capture is not possible.
3. Time zone : There was 12.30hrs of time difference between the client and our team. Because we need to coordinate with the client team on a daily basis, we shifted our work timing to accommodate the daily coordination with the client team and not to stretch extra hours at work.
1. Structured documentation and Project tracking.
2. Supported the contractor team to leverage BIM by feeding IFF, technical and circuit details corresponding to each element.
3. Supporting easier navigation through the model using Search Sets, Appearance Profiler for Navisworks, and custom parameters in the model.
4. Faster quantification of materials for construction.
